Dear Community Heroes,

The school year is almost out, and that means kids everywhere are more than ready for Summer break. Although some of our more privileged kids might look forward to vacations and test prep, those in less fortunate circumstances worry about how they will make it through another upcoming school year with everything they need. That’s why the Seva Commons Foundation is here to help with the annual Backpack Drive! This year we hope to donate over 200 backpacks to elementary, middle school, and high school students from Tracy, San Jose, Oakland, Pleasanton, and Livermore. We will gladly accept new backpack donations or monetary donations. Every dollar donated will explicitly go to providing new school supplies that will help ease the burden of school costs for struggling families around the Bay Area.

Binder paper (wide & college)

Notebooks (marbled or wired)
Scissors
Glue Sticks
Pens (red, blue & black ink)
Colored Pencils/ Crayons
Pencils
Markers
Erasers
Rulers
Sharpeners
Lunch bags
Calculators
Compasses
Protractors
Water bottle
Index cards
Walmart gift cards for families that need to buy shoes for their children

After doing some price research, buying backpack with supplies costs about $65 for high school kids and $55 for middle/elementary kids. However, we intend to buy in bulk which reduces the cost approximately $55 for high school kids and $45 for middle/elementary school kids, a backpack with supplies.

We would request you all to join us in donating much needed backpacks to kids. Here is how you can help:
1. You could proved one or more backpack, including supplies, to us
2. You can donate money so we can order the backpacks on your behalf – this would be bulk purchase.

As this drive is a time bound event, if you decide to participate, we will need your donations by 6/22/2024
